Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the difference between remy and virgin hair?

Both types are cut in the same direction from the donors head. However, Remy hair is processed as the hair cuticles are removed which increases shedding and excessive tangling.

Virgin hair is unprocessed as it has not been chemically treated or manipulated in anyway, leaving the hair cuticles damage free and intact making it more durable! Virgin hair also meets other rigorous standards including; no perming, no colouring, no bleaching and should come from a single donor (to ensure that the hair falls in the same direction).

2. What does Bulk hair mean?

Bulk hairs are loose strands of hair used for braiding, fusion, micro rings and knot extensions.

3. What is the difference between hand tied and machine weft?

Like the name suggests, hand tied wefts simply means that hair is sewn onto the weft by hand using strong weaving thread. Hand tied wefts are much thinner than machine wefts because of the precision involved. Extra care must be taken when weaving and the weft must not be cut. The benefit of using hand tied wefts is that it is less undetectable in comparison to Machine wefts, which are made by using a sewing machine specifically designed to stitch. Some argue that Machine weft extensions are more durable than hand tied. We do not suggest you cut your wefts to ensure the longevity of the hair.

4. How much hair would I need for a full head weave?

This is one of our most frequently asked questions. We recommend a minimum of 3 bundles of hair for a full head sew in if the lengths are between 12”-18”.

However our Vixxens love volume, we recommend a minimum of 4 bundles for any lengths longer than 18” in order to create our signature voluminous look. Please note that curly hair extensions are naturally coarse in texture in comparison to straight and wavy hair so fewer bundles are required. Remember, what you don’t get in length, you will get it in width!

5. Can I straighten my hair? If yes, would the curls come back?

Absolutely! All our hair extensions are versatile and can be styled as desired. This includes blow-drying and curling. Curls and waves can be restored after washing.

6. Can the hair be coloured?

Yes, our Virgin hair extensions can be coloured to your preference. Just take a look at our gallery and judge for yourself! However do no note that when virgin hair is bleached, the hair is stripped of its natural moisture and so regular deep conditioning is recommended until the hair is restored back to its normal state of moisture.

Excessive bleaching can damage virgin hair.

7. Can I swim with my virgin hair extensions?

You can indeed but remember that activities such as swimming can really dry out your hair extensions, so it’s advisable to wear a swimming cap to prevent this. In cases in which you cannot protect your hair, be sure to wash and deep condition it immediately to restore the moisture. Note that salty seawater and chlorine can really take its toll on your hair extensions, making it dry which can lead to tangling.

8. How long does the hair last for?

Like your natural hair, with good care and maintenance (see Hair Care page) there’s no reason why your hair shouldn’t be reused over and over again and last you for years.

9. Do you ship worldwide?

  Yes, we do indeed!
